After one win from two finals in 2016, the TSS women were aiming to go one better this year, with a win in both Club and Senior.

By Sunday afternoon we had reached three finals, with the combined verdicts for all those races adding up to just one length! A round-up of all of the club's crews is as follows:

Senior 4x: WINNERS in a new record time of 4:54, the fastest quad ever at HWR. A three-foot winning margin.

Junior 2x: Finalists. A fantastic result for Charley and India, who were both new at TSS this year; they lost out to Nottingham RC in a close final.

Club 8+: Finalists. We came within a canvas of successfully holding on to the trophy we won last year, but were beaten by a very impressive crew from Cantabrigian in a new record time of 4:47.

Club 4+: Quarter finalists. An awesome heat with Grosvenor saw them lower the course record to 5:20, but they were not able to match the power of Auriol Kensington in the next round.

Senior 1x: Both scullers made it through the Time Trial. Anna went out in the heat and Gabby made it through to the quarter final, losing out to Galway RC in a battle that went right to the line.

Senior 2x (A): Heat. We knew this crew had a tough draw following our battles with Tyne RC at Met Regatta. We held a slender lead to the enclosures but Tyne squeezed through with a little more length and power to finish a length up.

Senior 4- (A): Heat. A good time trial performance had the crew feeling confident going into the heats, but we drew the eventual winners. The crew held overlap for as long as they could but were ultimately not able to match Newcastle's power in the middle third of the race. Gutting for our crew but that's the luck of the draw!

Senior 4- (B): Heat. This four, with Masters A, C and E athletes on board, also progressed to the side-by-side rounds, but finished a length down to Worcester in their heat.

J16 4x: Heat. After Friday's time trial, the quad drew the eventual winners, Henley RC, in the heat.

J16 4+: The fastest non-qualifier in their time trial.

Senior 2x (B): An injury forced a last-minute change to this crew and unfortunately they didn't make it through the Time Trial. Thanks to Christa for stepping in at the last minute for what was a very competitive event this year.

Onwards now to HRR qualifiers before we start putting boats together to trial for the Welsh and English Home International teams.
